Description:
This long 4-8-2 mountain type steam locomotive, UP #7017, poses in the Albina, OR, yard. Built by Alco-Brooks in December of 1922 (serial #63733, class MT-1), it served the UP for nearly 33 years of service before retirement in December of 1956. Specs - 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 29x28" cylinders, engine weight of 345,000 lb, tractive effort of 54,838 lb, oil burner. An unknown photographer took this photo.
