Description:  Burkey. Here is the second of two original photos by an unidentified photographer that were taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. July of 1963. Prominent in the foreground are two handsome youngsters whose names are not recorded. Beyond them (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2229, #2508, and an "AF" Class unit whose road number is not recorded. #2229 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in April of 1963 and rated at 2,200 horsepower. while #2508 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in September of 1962 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. In this context, they're rounding the Curve with a freight train that's on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Wave to the Fireman! (#22 of 25)

Description:  Sunday. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 2 May 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2229, #2501, and #2529. #2229 is an EF-22 built by GM-EMD in April of 1963 and rated at 2,200 horsepower. #2501 and #2529 are GF-25's built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each; #2501 was built in August of 1962, but #2529 was built in September of 1964. They're pulling a 45-car manifest freight train through the Passenger Station and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. The cabin car is N-8 #478159. Photo taken from the 12th Street Footbridge.
