Title:
Empty Grain at Biscuit Bridge
Description:
The usual pair of 81-class units bring their empty grain train downgrade near "Biscuit Bridge" in the Cullerins on the South Main. As a local explained to me several years ago the structure, which carries the Old Hume Highway over the tracks, had a truck loaded with biscuits (cookies to us in the US) go out of control and end up on the tracks, closing the line for a period. It's been "Biscuit Bridge" ever since.

About 8AM at Parkes and looking west from the station foot bridge- Pacific National is preparing to send two grain trains out and is moving power to accomidate. Two 81-class units move back to their train with a single 48-class Alco trailing.

Overpowered Wheatie
Description:
Five 81-class units (8138, 8113, 8125, 8165, 8155) bring an empty grain train (a "Wheatie" down here) downgrade through the Cullerin Range on a March afternoon. There are only 30 cars in this train; two units are normal, so this would appear to be a power balancing effort.
