Rainy. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 12 October 1965. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2347, #2312, #2337, #9787, and #9806-B. All were built by GM-EMD. #2347, #2312, and #2337 are EF-25's built in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each: #2347 in February, plus #2312 and #2337 in January. #9787 and #9806-B are EF-15A's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9787 was built in February of 1951; #9806-B was built in April of 1951 and retired in December of 1966. They're pulling a 164-car mixed-cargo freight train under the 17th Street Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. PRR cabin car #477636 precedes tail-end pushers #6305 and #6309. Photo taken at ALTO Tower. (#21 of 21) |
